Billie Joe Armstrong Meets Billie Eilish
17-year-old singer-songwriter Billie Eilish joined forces with her namesake Billie Joe Armstrong of legendary punk rock band Green Day for an interview for Rolling Stone's first-ever musicians on musicians issue. The duo went on to talk about everything from starting out in the music business to how one deals with having a "bad night" onstage. The two are featured in the back of Armstrong’s ’63 Ford Falcon in LA. He bought the car on Craigslist, rebuilt the engine himself, and had it brought in from his house in Newport Beach for the photo shoot.
This isn't the first time the two Billie's have clashed. Armstrong and Eilish met earlier back in May of this year after a show of Eilish's backstage with the Green Day frontman posting a picture of the show writing, "That was an excellent show! Thanks so much Billie Eilish and Finneas."
During the Rolling Stone interview, Both Billie's went on and opened up on the pressures of touring with Eilish explaining her fears of returning home to find that her closest friends and loved ones have all moved on without her. “There was a period where I was like, ‘Do I even enjoy music?’ It just felt like so much touring. And I don’t mean the shows,” she explained.
Eilish also revealed she's a huge fan of Green Day, admitting to Billie Joe that she used to be her wallpaper on her phone.'I was your wallpaper?' Armstrong quickly recounted back. Eilish also had some questions to Billie Joe's onstage antics and banter between songs: 'Hey, I don't even know how to ask this, but what gave you the urge to, like, moon the audience, or kick people in the head and stuff?' With Armstrong replying: 'I think someone was getting kind of aggro, and then we started having a back-and-forth yelling at each other. And then I was literally fighting with someone in the crowd. I wouldn't recommend it. Please don't do it.'
