ARROWS IN ACTION - "Coasting" ALBUM REVIEW

Founded in 2012, the Gainsville, FL pop-punk quartet ARROWS IN ACTION have made a name for themselves with their high energetic live shows with a sound that's a total nod to the early 2000's throwback pop-punk era meets mid 90's rock.

The band has opened up for national acts such as We The Kings & Cute Is What We Aim For dishing out two EP's since their inception and is currently working on their first full-length album.

Their latest record COASTING is a solid 4 song EP that definitely defines the band's sound while reminding me of old school Mayday Parade meets super late 90's throwback pop-punk/rock band American Hi-Fi that features melodic harmonies, straight to the point guitar riffs, and killer stop-break drum fills.

Opening track M.J.F. is a total pop rock tune with upbeat, bouncy drum parts, sing-a-long chorus and 2 part vocal harmonies. Track 2 Secondhand sounds like it could segway directly from M.J.F. in a live concert scenario. It's a good, groovy, slower track still with its upbeat moments.

L.A. Sound is a total pop-punk tune that opens up with a cool flange guitar riff that spends no time breaking off right into a lyrically driven verse which directly dives into a chorus that has a pretty rad chord progression in it. Final tune on the record is more alt-rock and pop-rock than anything. The intro reminds me of a Foo Fighters tune where the verse/chorus reminds me of old school radio pop-rock bands like Nine Days.
