BELMONT Drops New Single SSX TRICKMONT. On Tour with CAN'T SWIM!
Progressive-punk quartet, Belmont have announced a new single 'SSX Trickmont', following up on their latest record 'Aftermath' which was dropped back in 2022 via Pure Noise Records.
If you've never heard Belmont they're like the best parts of math metal, progressive rock and pop-punk and emo all meshed together. With intricate prog. rock and metal blast beats from the drums, heavy chugging parts, "unexpected out of nowhere" guitar riffs coupled with some of the most meaningful and heartfelt lyrics belted with tad-bits of screaming sometimes splattered throughout the tracks.
Belmont's latest single SSX TRICKMONT, an obvious nod to the classic PlayStation snowboarding game SSX TRICKY, is no exception to the aforementioned explanation of the band's sound. The band kicks off with finger-tapping guitars and fast hardcore punk drum beats, very upbeat and poppy almost like a video game intro.
One of my favorite lyrics from the song are a catchy-as-hell chorus: "I don’t think that you understand, That I don’t want to see your face until I’m six feet in. I don’t think that you understand. There’s a reason that I bounced out in the very end." After two choruses the track is separated by a sick breakdown with the "ugliest" of screams and heavy guitar which kicks back into another chorus followed by yet another breakdown that closes out the entire song.
