blink-182 Drops New Single GENERATIONAL DIVIDE
Mark Hoppus revealed plans for the forthcoming blink-182 album, and where he wants to take the band next at the turn of the new year back in January 2019.
“We’re really trying to do that on the new record. We want to do with our band what we did in 2003 with Untitled, where we take our foundations and go off in completely weird directions.”
The band seems to be making promises with their 2nd single entitled GENERATIONAL DIVIDE from the "yet to be titled" album. blink-182 seems to be returning to their punk rock roots with this tune, with fast hardcore punk beats, melancholy upbeat chord progressions, tied with a somewhat "Dude Ranch" feel/sound from the track and honing in their Descendants/Bad Religion influences.
While this song is more punk driven, their first single BLAME IT ON THE YOUTH is a total contrast to this. It's going to be exciting to see what the album in its entirety will sound like, and one could only hope the band keeps delivering on their experimental promise.
You can check the band out this summer on tour with Lil' Wayne and Neck Deep where they will be playing their 1999 hit album ENEMA OF THE STATE in its entirety in celebration for its 20th anniversary. The band will also be performing at the 25th Annual Vans Warped Tour, Riot Fest and Aftershock Festival. Tour Dates Below.
