MAKEWAR "Oh Brother" SINGLE REVIEW

makewar

makewar

MakeWar first burst through the Southern Border Wall and onto the national stage from such countries as Venezuela, Colombia and Florida in 2016 when Brendan Kelly, (failed tastemaker, member of the Lawrence Arms and co-founder of Red Scare Industries) played a show with Jose in Bushwick during a blizzard and was so impressed by his acoustic troubadour-ship that he decided, with the most discerning of tastes, that whatever Jose’s band was, if they played those songs, shit, it was good enough for Red Scare.

The iconic Fat Wreck Chords (home to such great bands as Strung Out, Teenage Bottlerocket and The Flatliners) picked up MakeWar to join their roster for the creation of their album Get It Together. That album Get It Together drops on November 1st, 2019 which will prompt an extensively long tour with the likes of Lagwagon, face to face and NOFX.

But for now you can check out their latest single "Oh Brother." which will be off of the aforementioned forthcoming record GET IT TOGETHER. "Oh Brother" has a gritty punk rock edge that has been sandpapered down to a shiny pop-punk core. The band is one of the most well-rounded I've heard of in a while branching from pop to hardcore punk at moments. Melodically reminiscent of bands like Southpaw, and Against Me! with the straight-foward-ness of bands like Lawrence Arms and pop-punk core of an almost Sum 41 sound MAKEWAR ushers in a new sound of punk rock moving forward to 2020. But don't take my word for it, check em' out yourself!
